Tryout Guidelines
These are the tryout guidelines for Major Novice MD.

Welcome to the 2014 Major Novice MD Tryouts.  For those of you that do not know me, my name is Brent Landers and I will be coaching the Novice 1 MD team this coming season.  Rob Hawrelak will be coaching the Novice 2 MD team.  The tryout schedule has been posted on the West London website: http://westlondonhockey.ca/Categories/1004/Tryouts/. For those new to the tryout process I will explain how it goes.  All players are permitted to start their tryouts at the Novice 1 level as per the following schedule:

Major Novice 1

Sat, Aug 23

10:00 AM-10:50 AM

Nichols Arena - A Pad

Sun, Aug 24

11:15 AM-12:05 PM

Nichols Arena - A Pad

Wed, Sep 03

5:30 PM-6:20 PM

Nichols Arena - B Pad

The first round of cuts will be made after the tryout on September 3 via the West London Website at the following address http://westlondonhockey.ca/Teams/1935/.  The list of players moving forward with the Novice 1 team will be posted.  All players not listed are to report to the Novice 2 tryouts:

Major Novice 2

Sat, Sep 06

1:00 PM-1:50 PM

The Novice 1 tryouts will continue with exhibition games vs. North London on Saturday, September 6, 10:00 @ Argyle Arena, B Pad and Sunday September 7, 3:00, Nichols Arena, B Pad.  There will be more cuts after the second exhibition game.  Final cuts for the Novice 1 team will be made after the last tryout Saturday, September 13, 9:30 @ Kinsmen Arena, Pad A.

There are approximately 48 players registered for the MD tryouts this season, which is a very large number and will result in some very difficult decisions by both Rob and myself.  No spots have been pre-determined and all players will be given equal opportunity to make either team.  That being said we will be looking for certain things and all players are expected to bring forward their best effort and commitment during each evaluation session. For those that are not successful with either team you will be asked to report to the Houseleague evaluations in Mid-September.

Good luck to everyone during the evaluation process and we look forward to a great season.  If for some reason you cannot make a tryout, please let me know.  For those with conflicting Soccer Festivals or Baseball Playoffs on the August 23/24 weekend, please go to your summer sport, if you desire.  If you have any questions please let me know.
