Sometimes the victory is not holding the trophy at the end but the journey itself.
Entering the first tournament of the year, slotted into the Michigan PeeWee A loop, the Hawks had little idea the competition they would see. Their goal for the tournament was to compete and grow as a team.
The first two games against the Macomb Mustangs and Trenton Blades saw the West London Hawks play very determined hockey, out shoot the competition and still come up one goal shy in both contests losing 3-2 to Macomb and 4-3 to Trenton.
Game three saw an extremely aggressive Blue Water Stars team impose their style of hockey on the Hawks. Looking tired, the Hawks handed the 2-0 victory to the Stars.
The Consolation Game Sunday morning witnessed an invigorated Hawks team force the Blue Water Stars to play their game of speed and skill. The Hawks surprised the Stars with a brilliant 4-2 victory.
In the end, the Hawks came together as a team, overcame a difficult Blue Water Stars team and left us all with the impression that when determined, this team will be hard to beat.
