It's too bad some lacklustre play in February and early March put the Hawks out of contention for the semi-finals because they rediscovered their form on the final weekend of the season. While the Hawks were not in the running to make the final four, they were facing the two teams that were battling each other to grab the fourth spot, playing West London A6 on Saturday and North A6 on Sunday. The Renegades' Curse continues as former Hawks Owen Verberne and Jacob Bamford led their team to victory over their former club, with each getting a hat-trick as West London B6 downed C6 9-2 last night. One team - C6 - was fighting for its playoff life while the other - the Hawks - were playing out the string, and the difference showed from the first drop of the puck as B6 was hungrier for most of the night, winning the little battles that were key to its emphatic 9-2 thrashing of the Hawks.

The West London Hawks C6 went into the weekend needing to win the remainder of their playoff games to keep their slim hopes of making the semi-finals alive. They played gamely but alas came up short, dropping a 5-0 decision on Saturday to their West London rivals B6 in a game that was much closer than the final score suggested, before outworking and beating the Bandits B6 on Sunday by a score of 3-1. 

The Hawks' GLMHA losing streak reached four games today as they fought gamely but dropped a 3-0 decision to the Bandits A6 at Nichols Arena. Goalie Brendan Walsh gave his teammates a chance, holding the Bandits to 1-0 until partway through the third when the Bandits potted their second marker of the game, but despite some glorious chances the Hawks' failure to find the back of the net proved fatal in this match.

The Hawks dropped their third loss in as many games in the playoff round robin yesterday, falling 4-2 to North London A6. The Hawks were stymied by an outstanding goaltending performance by the A6 netminder, who turned aside multiple grade A chances.
