Hawks Win Hard-Fought 4-2 Victory
The Hawks squared off against West London D4 in a hard-fought and evenly contested match-up. The game also featured a home-coming of sorts for former Hawks Matt Hodgins and Zach Martin, both of whom played strong games against their old team. But in the end, a solid team effort and hard work at both ends of the ice allowed the Hawks to prevail.

The play of the team defense was demonstrative of the solid team game by the Hawks. With hard work, player of the game Josh McCarvell as well as Cody Michiels, Pyper Baker, and Noah Weber were able to keep the offensively talented trio of Hodgins, Owen Ireland, and Adam Clark to the outside, minimizing their quality scoring chances and frustrating the D-4 snipers. McCarvell turned in an especially strong effort, winning battles in the corner, keeping the puck in at the blue line, and sending a couple of bombs on net from the point.

Brendan Walsh turned in a second stellar game in a row in between the pipes, following up on last Sunday's shut out with a 2-goal game in which he made multiple outstanding saves. Walsh takes a turn on defense next weekend as the other half the Hawks' netminding tandem, Zach Read, returns to the crease.

Up front, hard work was the key theme as well. Owen Verberne made perhaps the season's most outstanding defensive play to date racing back and diving to prevent Ireland from going in alone on a breakaway midway through the third period. While Verberne's effort was exceptional, it was also indicative of the effort put in by the Hawks as there were no passengers in this game. Offensively, Jacob Bamford had his second two-goal game in a row, Owen Worby had a goal and two assists, and Theo Enns potted a goal from the slot after some hard work behind the net by Read to cause a turnover and feed him the puck. Although they didn't show up on the score sheet, Matt Di Cicco and Callum Knapp similarly gave 100% all game long.

Outstanding game Hawks!
