Hawks Tie Hawks 3-3 in Game Marred by Dirty Hit
With two members of the coaching staff, including your intrepid correspondent, away on a scouting expedition to northern Vermont, the Hawks earned a 3-3 tie on the weekend against their fellow West London Hawks B4. B4 was missing its usual goalie Miigizens Kicknosway but C4 goalie Zach Allen more than ably filled in holding B4 in a game where our Hawks carried much of the play.

Theo Enns earned player of the game honours picking up a hat trick while Matt Di Cicco also had a multiple-point game with two assists and Owen Worby and Brendan Walsh padded their point totals with one assist a-piece.

Already down a man on defence as regular Noah Weber was out with stitches after a mishap on the school bus, the Hawks nearly lost another of their stalwarts on the back end when one player from B4 demolished Pyper Baker with a dirty hit. Inexplicably there was no call on the play, although the player in question did receive two other penalties in the course of the action. Emotions were running high on the Hawks' bench and after the game, but the team bore down to bring the tie home and did not let their anger get the better of them. Baker - though clearly badly shaken by the hit - was OK and was her usual self at Monday night's practice.

Zach Read reportedly had a solid game in net earning the team's league-leading fourth tie of the season. Read, for whatever reason, has been in net for all four ties. Either this suggests he can't hold a lead or perhaps he's good at bearing down in tight games.

The Hawks have a massive test looming this coming weekend as they face the first place Bandits Saturday night and then the second place Hawks C4 the next morning.
