This pilot for Select hockey in London is intended to provide additional
skill development and game play opportunities for House League players in the
The select program will complement and improve the GLHA
House League programs, increase interest in MD programs for the following year.
In order for a GLHA Association to offer a Select team they must first have a rostered Seeded and MD team in the associated age group. In Major novice the Association must have a Tier 1 and a Tier 2 team.
Select Teams Tournaments, Ex Games and practices must not conflict with their rostered House League team. If this occurs and a player misses his rostered teams ice time the Select team will be suspended from any further play and the Head Coach suspended for a Minimum of 3 games with his rostered team.
Select teams will be limited to a maximum of 2 tournaments per year, 1 at the teams home Associations tournament if they offer a Select division, if no select division then another GLHA Associations tournament and the 2nd being during Christmas break or 1 weekend of March Break. These must not conflict with their rostered teams tournaments. In addition the Select team will also be able to participate in the Alliance Select Championships if eligible.
Select teams will be able to hold a practice 1 time per week from Nov 15 Alliance This practice ice must be booked through the Association ice scheduler. The Select Head Coach is responsible for finding ice to use for practice, the Association will not provide ice for Select hockey. This must not conflict with rostered team practices or games. Coaches should be added to last minute ice list from the City of London.
A max of 4 exhibition games between Nov 15 and Alliancewill be permitted. This must not conflict with rostered team practices or games. The Head Coach will be responsible to find ice for the exhibition games and have the ice and referees booked through the ice scheduler.
Select teams may only be on the ice 1 time per week this includes practice, tournaments and exhibition games for the Select team.
All costs associated with tournaments, ex games and practice ice will be absorbed by the players selected for the Select team. A team budget must be prepared prior to Nov1 by the Select Coach and approved by the Association.
Teams shall be picked by Nov 1 and a roster submitted by Nov 10th to the Association register.
Team jerseys and socks will be supplied by the Association and only the Association Name and Select may be used for team names. Example West London Selects
