This past weekend, the U15 A8 Hawks represented West London at the Riverside Families First House League Tournament and came home champions!
Just 3 weeks after winning it all at the Bradford Blue and Gold Tournament. The Hawks went undefeated in 6 games to earn their second tournament championship of the season. The Hawks won all 3 round robin games to finish second in their group of 8, setting up for a busy Sunday with 3 games required to win it all. The Hawks started with a 5-1 dominating win over the Mount Brydges Cougars in the quarter final. The Semi Final was a tightly contested affair with the Hawks coming out victorious 2-1 over the Kitchener Giants, setting up a championship match vs the undefeated host team, Riverside Green.
In the final, the team from Riverside came out storming, scoring 2 goals in the first 21 seconds to put the Hawks on their heels. After an early time-out was called to settle the squad, the Hawks, as they had all tournament long, found a way to take over the game and score 4 unanswered goals. Riverside scored late to setup an exciting finish, but the Hawks defense would not be broken. The Hawks held on to win the championship game 4-3.
A fantastic weekend of hockey and fun, setting this team up for the final stretch with aspirations of a city championships and the Alliance Championships in April.
