This weekend the U11BB, U12BB and U13 BB travelled to Barrie for the Colts Classic Tournament and all teams came home with some nice hardware.
The
U11BB made it to the finals, but unfortunately ran out of steam and had a tough loss to the host Colts. Congratulations on your silver medals.
The U12BB made it to the finals in a game that saw the second addition of a West London team taking on the Host Colts. In this game, West jumped out to a 2 to 0 lead before the Colts scored 2 goals of their own to force West into overtime. In one of the most entertaining overtime sessions for the fans in attendance, West London and the Colts went through five (5) OT periods that started off at 5 on 5 and continued down to 1 on 1. During the final 1 on 1 period, West London Goaltender, Cameron NORTON, made a great save on the Colt's breakaway which turned into West player, Madden PLET, getting a partial breakaway of his own. PLET was able to defend off a back checker while firing the puck under the blocker of the Colt's goalie to bring home the Championship for the West U12BB team. 3 to 2 was the final score.
The West U13BB made it to the finals after going undefeated in round robin play. The U13BB team ran into a tough opponent in the South Muskoka Bears and found themselves trailing for the first time in the tournament after South Muskoka scored to make it 1 to 0 in the first period. The U13BB team battled back to take the lead, before South Muskoka tied it up at 2 to 2 going into the 3rd period. The U13BB team were able to score early in the 3rd period, before scoring late into an empty net to seal the Championship 4 to 2.
