HL - Major Atom - A4, 2018-2019, HL-U11 (West London Minor Hockey)

The West London Hawks Atom A4 team didn't finish their season as they'd hoped: with a championship win, but they did finish in style, as the Hawks fought the eventual champion North London A4 squad to a 5-4 loss in overtime. It was a great effort by the Hawks, and if titles were awarded on the basis of effort alone, they would've walked out of the rink as champions. Certainly, they earned the right to walk out with their heads held high, feeling justly proud of the excellent season behind them. 

The West London Hawks Atom A4 squad faced a critical test Saturday late-morning at Carling Arena. Facing off against North London C4, a team they had tied the previous weekend, the Hawks, sitting in last place in the playoffs round robin standings, knew they had to bring their A game. Bring it they did, as the Hawks used grit, determination, excellent team defence, and some scoring heroics from Troy Price to score a pretty decisive 4-2 win.

Sometimes the effort is there but the results aren't. That is what happens when you run into a very good team as the West London Hawks Major Atom #A4 did Monday night at Carling Arena. Perhaps it was the 5-2 score that made it seem this way but in addition to suffering a loss, the Hawks also had to suffer the freezing cold as it seemed to be roughly -60 degrees Celsius inside the rink.

The West London Hawks Major Atom A4 squad faced a stern test Saturday afternoon, facing off against North London Nationals C4 and battling to a 2-2 tie. It was a tight-checking affair with solid defence and good goaltending at both ends of the rink and the result was probably a fair representation of the balance of play.

The West London Hawks Major Atom A4 squad has a problem: it has allowed 12 goals in its past 2 games. On Sunday afternoon, the Hawks dropped their second straight game, this time by a 6-5 margin to West London D4. After the game the coaching staff was clear to the team that they would to do better defensively if they wanted to make any noise in this year's playoffs.
