Schedule & Results, Atom, 2012-2013, Seeded (West London Minor Hockey)

Our Semi Final game started out normal. However, things quickly changed when the Kitchener Auditorium tranformer blew and the entire rink went into Emergency generator power. The rink went dark with kids on the ice and not one back up light worked. Lights came on and play resumed but then the generator failed as well and that was it. The lights went out in georgia. After the kids got settled on the bench in the dark we made plans to get organized. Skates were swapped for shoes, flashlights came out and parents found their way in the dark to grab all our gear. In the meantime 6 kids from another team were trapped in the elevator. Fire dept and police now on scene...and a scene it was. An alternate location for the game was found and off we went. Our team both parents and players acted as a well oiled team and we adapted and overcame the obstacles....unfortunately we were not victorious but for the kids it was a memory they won't forget I'm sure. Onwards and upwards. Lights on or lights off...bring it on.....GO HAWKS GO!!!
