U15 A8 Hawks Rule the Weekend!
This past weekend, the U15 A8 Hawks showcased their resilience and skill at the thrilling 2024 Nazem Kadri tournament in London. Adversity struck during the round robin phase, leaving the Hawks at the bottom of the group. However, they needed a strong performance against North London in the quarterfinals, and they delivered a commanding 5-0 victory, securing their place in Sunday’s semifinals.

The semifinal match against Oakridge on Sunday morning was fiercely contested, ending in a 1-1 tie that sent the game into 3-on-3 overtime. The Hawks came out strong, generating numerous chances but unable to find the back of the net. Oakridge fought valiantly, but the Hawks’ potent offense prevailed, delivering a game-winner with just 41 seconds left on the clock. The Hawks were on their way to the finals.

In the championship match on Sunday afternoon, the Hawks faced the undefeated Oakridge Aeros B8, who entered the game with a perfect 4-0-0 record and a previous victory over the Hawks. Seeking revenge, the Hawks struggled early, trailing 2-0 after two periods. But they rose to the challenge, scoring two quick goals just 58 seconds apart to set up a thrilling finish.

Overtime was electric, with both teams generating dramatic breakaways and chances. The tension in the arena was palpable as the clock ticked down. In a final push, the Hawks got one last opportunity. The puck was sent deep into the corner, where a Hawks winger quickly fired a shot on goal. Though Oakridge’s goalie made the initial save, the rebound fell to the Hawks' center, who capitalized with a stunning one-timer to clinch victory! This remarkable journey through adversity solidified the Hawks’ status as true champions of the tournament!
