This past weekend, West
London Minor Hockey took time to honour the brave individuals who have and
continue to serve Canada in uniform.
Hockey has always held a special place in the Canadian
Armed Forces. Whether played on frozen ponds overseas or on bases across
the country, the game has provided comfort, camaraderie, and a sense of home to
our military members. By partnering with veteran affairs and holding
commemorative puck drops, we join our communities across Canada in showing our
commitment to honouring and remembering veterans - those who have defended
our values, our freedoms and our way of life.
Our service members continue to represent the best of who
we are as a nation - strong, compassionate and always ready to help. Their
actions remind us of what it means to be a good neighbour, both at home and
around the world. We honour veterans whose acts of courage and compassion
reflect the same values we like to see on the ice: teamwork, leadership and
resilience.
We hope to inspire some of our youth athletes through remembrance
and we continue to celebrate hockey's role in building strong, respectful and
connected communities. A big thank you to everyone who participated.
