GLHA Return to Play Update
Hawks Community, We hope everyone has enjoyed the holiday season and found time to rest, relax, and rejuvenate.  We are pleased that many kids were fortunate to continue to spend time at the rink but also recognize that these last few weeks may have been difficult for many of our families, who may be navigating illness or COVID exposures.  The current pandemic climate is challenging, and we ask that all coaches, volunteers, parents, and players continue to respect each other’s opinions and comfort level regarding return to play.

On December 31st, ALLIANCE Hockey released an update regarding return to external play.  This update supports a resumption of external play beginning January 2nd.  Provided play is not interrupted by any provincial or local Health Unit requirements, representative and MD games shall only be cancelled or rescheduled if a team cannot meet the following minimum composition standards:

·        U15 and Above – 10 skaters + 1 goalie

·        U14 and Below – 9 skaters and 1 goalie

The GLHA will also adhere to these numbers for House League play as well. Please see the ALLIANCE Hockey update for further details.

We ask that our Hawks community continue to follow all COVID protocols, and in particular, that parents and players answer screening questions honestly, and postpone coming to the rink if experiencing any new or worsening symptoms.  As well, wear masks where required, limit time in the dressing room, practice physical distancing, and get immunized!  GLHA continues to promote vaccination of players of all ages, and encourages anyone eligible for a booster dose, to receive one.  We must use all the tools at our disposal to do what we can to keep COVID at bay.

Happy New Year to our GLHA family.  We look forward to seeing you at the rink!
