WELCOME TO THE 2019/2020 HOCKEY SEASON!
We are just around the corner from starting another fun-filled season of hockey in West! Major Novice this coming season, as most of you are aware, will take on a whole new look. The team will be playing the first half of our season under the Half Ice model which is mandated by Hockey Canada under its Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) model (https://www.hockeycanada.ca/en-ca/hockey-programs/coaching/ltpd). While the second half of our season will transition into a traditional full ice format.
The objectives for the team and the coaches will be focused on: building confidence, respect for fellow team mates, understanding our team goals, and of course continuing to refine skill development. It is the direct responsibility of the coaching staff to work a plan which will make this happen for the kids. It is the kid’s responsibility to show up and offer a few “Key Principles”: LISTENING, RESPECT FOR FELLOW PLAYERS and REMEMBERING TO PACK THEIR POSITIVE ATTITIUDES IN THEIR HOCKEY BAGS!
This September we will be having three (3) Development Skates (dates below) followed by four (4) Evaluation Tryout Skates. The kids will be put through a series of practice plans that will allow them to showcase their skills for all areas of the game. By September 28th we will have selected our MD Tier 1 team for the 2019/2020 season. We will continue our development phase after that date until October 18th when our season officially commences.

Without this form signed and handed in before September 5th your son/daughter will not be able to participate in any of the on-ice skates.
