Welcome to Minor Peewee MD Tryouts
I hope everyone has had an amazing summer and are ready for the upcoming hockey season. I welcome everyone attending the West London Minor Peewee tryouts for the 2018/19 season. My name is Chris Latour and I have the honor of coaching this age group again this year. I have coached girls and boys hockey for the past 5 years at various levels and look forward to another successful season.
We are lucky enough to have a new home arena. Our tryouts start on Sept 4 at the new Bostwick Arena.
Please arrive 45 minutes prior to the tryout to get registered. As well please remove any non association stickers from your helmets (Award stickers, etc.)
Lists will be posted on the doors at arrival listing the jersey colour and jersey number the players are to wear during the tryout. Please verify the jersey colour and number each tryout as the list does get changed. At the end of the ice time please leave the jerseys to be collected.
It’s no secret that selecting an MD hockey team can be a very stressful time for all involved. To ensure fairness and impartiality, I have asked a team of independent evaluators with many years of rep hockey experience to help me select 15 players and 2 goalies. I will be using all feedback provided to me as a part of this process. I will be looking for player ability in various hockey skills but will also take into account traits such as competitiveness and effort. I will outline with the players at the start of the tryout process. Please note that all players will attend a minimum of 3 skates prior to any reductions.
I have a focus on the following areas with the goal of assembling a team focused on team play, positive attitudes and the desire to improve.
- Effort and Focus
- Teamwork (e.g. passing)
- Hockey sense and coachability
- Positive attitude
- Dexterity (e.g. skating, stickhandling, etc.)
