Champions - Competition Toyota Blue & White Tournament
Bridesmaids no more.  The New Year saw a new determination grow within the West London Atom MD Hawks.

North London hosted an excellent weekend of hockey at the Competition Toyota Blue & White Tournament.  Within the Atom MD/AE loop, six teams were vying for the Chamionship Trophy.

West London came out strong on day one defeating the Kitchener Jr. Rangers Red 4-1.  The Hawks ran into penalty trouble in game two giving up 3 shorthanded goals but were still able to secure an 8-5 victory over a tough Milton Winterhawks team.

Day two saw the final round robin game against the Ilderton Jets.  Ilderton played a tough game and backed up by the goaltending of Swan-Merrison, the Hawks were able hold onto a 2-1 victory.

At the conclusion of round robin play, three teams were tied at six points, so goals for percentage (goals scored divided by goals scored for and against) was used to place the Hawks in second place.

The semi-final game versus North London promised to be a spirited affair.  With only one point separating the teams in league play and North's win over the Hawks in the Silver Stick semi-finals, the Hawks would have to be at their best.  Come game time, West put togehter thier best showing of the season beating North London 6-0 and securing a spot in the finals.

The finals on Sunday saw the two undeated teams meet to determine the Champion.  The Hawks, with MVP goaltender Matthew Govier, edged out the Kitchener Jr. Rangers Blue 1-0 to secure their first tournament championship of the season.

Congratulations West London Hawks Atom MD.
